ECG & Pharmacology Certification Canada

ECG & Pharmacology Online Course — ACLS & PALS Prep for Canadian Healthcare Professionals

Looking to strengthen your understanding of ECG interpretation and emergency pharmacology before taking ACLS or PALS training? Our ECG and Pharmacology Online Course is designed to give healthcare professionals a strong foundation in cardiac rhythm recognition and drug administration—key skills required before attending Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses. Since ECG and pharmacology are no longer covered in detail in ACLS and PALS certification courses, this online course ensures you’re fully prepared and confident when responding to cardiac emergencies.

✅ What You’ll Learn:

What This Course Covers

  • Anatomy of the heart and cardiac conduction system
  • Basics of electrophysiology
  • How to measure and interpret a standard ECG
  • Identification of basic arrhythmias

Why Canadian Nurses & Paramedics Choose This Course

  • Overview of core ACLS drugs and their clinical use
  • Proper drug dosages and routes of administration in cardiac arrest and other emergencies
  • How to integrate pharmacology into ACLS treatment algorithms

Whether you’re a new healthcare graduate or an experienced medical provider, this course will enhance your clinical skills and improve your readiness in high-stakes cardiac situations.

⚠️ Please note: This is not a Heart & Stroke Foundation course. It is intended as a preparatory course for ACLS and PALS training.   Updated on Jan 2025

Part 1: ECG
Is this ECG & Pharmacology course recognized in Canada?
Yes. This course is developed specifically for Canadian healthcare providers and aligns with Canadian ACLS and PALS curriculum standards. It is offered by the Canadian Health Care Provider Training Institute (CHCPTI), based in Mississauga, Ontario.
Do I need to take this course before my ACLS or PALS certification?
Yes, and this is important. ECG interpretation and emergency pharmacology are no longer taught in detail during ACLS and PALS courses. If you arrive without this foundational knowledge, you will struggle during the certification. This course fills that gap so you walk in prepared and confident.
How long does the course take to complete?
The course takes approximately 4–6 hours to complete. It includes 33 video lessons, 2 quizzes, and is fully self-paced — meaning you can start, pause, and resume anytime from any device.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
Yes. A certificate of completion is included with your course purchase. You can download and print it immediately upon finishing.
Is this an American Heart Association (AHA) course?
No. This is not an AHA course. It is an independent preparatory course designed specifically to build the ECG and pharmacology knowledge that ACLS and PALS courses expect you to already have. It is not a replacement for your ACLS or PALS certification — it is the preparation that makes passing that certification easier.
Who is this course designed for?
This course is designed for registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), paramedics, physicians, and healthcare students preparing for ACLS or PALS certification. It is also useful for any clinical professional who wants to strengthen their cardiac rhythm recognition and emergency drug knowledge.
Can I access the course on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The course is fully online and accessible on any device — desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone — as long as you have an internet connection.
What is your refund policy?
If you are not satisfied with the course, please contact CHCPTI directly at [email protected] or call +1 437-937-0400 within the refund window outlined in the cancellation policy. Full details are available on the refund and cancellation policy page.
