Basic First Aid (BFA) is a 1-day course for foundational skills. Because it meets higher Ontario occupational requirements, IFA is recommended for most workplaces.
Yes. CHCPTI's first aid and CPR course in Mississauga is fully WSIB and CSA compliant, so it meets all Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements for workplace first aiders. In addition, the certificate is recognized by employers across Ontario and Canada.
Your certificate is valid for 3 years. Because these are perishable life-saving skills, Heart & Stroke also recommends an annual CPR/AED refresher to maintain competency between recertifications.

No prior training is required. Both the Basic and Intermediate options are open to anyone. However, for the 1-day Intermediate recertification, you'll need a current Heart & Stroke First Aid certificate.
