Heart & Stroke’s Intermediate First Aid
Our intermediate workplace first aid training equips you with advanced skills to manage complex workplace emergencies. Unlike basic courses, we provide:
Deeper content knowledge – Understand the “why” behind procedures Extended hands-on practice – 50% more skill-drill time than basic courses Expanded emergency scenarios – Including workplace-specific situations WSIB–CSA-compliant certification – Meets all Ontario occupational requirements
Basic First Aid (BFA)
1-day basic, instructor-led first aid course
Intermediate First Aid (IFA)
2-day comprehensive, instructor-led first aid course or a 1-day recertification course for experienced providers with current Heart & Stroke first aid certification
Individuals who want or require basic information on first aid and CPR/AED for their workplace, school or personal interest
Valid for 3 years
CPR/AED skills are life-saving skills taught in all first aid courses. To maintain competency in these key skills, Heart & Stroke recommends attending a Heartsaver® CPR AED course each year.
