Is online WHMIS training accepted by Canadian employers?

Online WHMIS training covers the general WHMIS 2015 (GHS) education that workers need: labels, Safety Data Sheets, hazard classes and pictograms. Many employers accept an online certificate for this part. Under WHMIS rules, your employer must also give you workplace-specific training on the hazardous products at your job, so check what your employer requires. Take WHMIS training online.

How long is a WHMIS certificate good for?

There is no single national expiry date for WHMIS training. Employers must keep worker training current, and in Ontario they must review it at least once a year. Because of this, many employers ask workers to complete a WHMIS refresher every year, and also whenever new hazardous products are introduced.

What is an IPAC certificate and who needs one?

An IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) certificate shows you have completed training in how infections spread, hand hygiene, Routine Practices, Additional Precautions and the correct use of PPE. It is often requested for personal support workers, nurses, long-term care and clinic staff, dental teams and healthcare students starting placements. Our course is a basic infection control certificate. It is not the CIC® credential held by infection control professionals. View the IPAC course.

Can I get IPAC certified online in Ontario?

Yes. Our Basic Infection Control Certificate (IPAC) is completed fully online and is based on the infection prevention practices used in Ontario and across Canada. It takes about one hour, and you can finish it from any device. If your employer or school requires a specific provider, confirm with them before you enroll.

How soon do I get my certificate?

As soon as you pass the course, you can download your certificate from your CHCPTI account and send it to your employer or school.

Do you offer in-class training?

Yes. We run in-class Heart & Stroke Foundation courses at our Mississauga training centre, including First Aid & CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS and PEARS. We also offer N95 mask fit testing.
