CPR / AED

Adult CPR and AED (Level A) or adult, child and infant CPR and AED (Level C), plus management of choking for all age groups.

Emergency Scene Management

Assess the scene, recognize emergencies, activate EMS, and manage multiple casualty situations safely and effectively.

Basic First Aid (BFA) is a 1-day course for foundational skills. Intermediate First Aid (IFA) is a comprehensive 2-day course with 50% more hands-on practice, covering a wider range of workplace emergencies including CPR Level C. IFA is recommended for most workplaces and meets higher Ontario occupational requirements.

Yes. CHCPTI's First Aid & CPR certification is fully WSIB and CSA compliant, meeting all Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements for workplace first aiders. The certificate is recognized by employers across Ontario and Canada.

Your First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years. Heart & Stroke recommends attending an annual CPR/AED refresher course to maintain competency in these life-saving skills between recertifications.

CPR Level A covers adult CPR and AED use. CPR Level C includes all Level A content plus CPR and AED for children and infants, and choking management for all age groups. Level C is recommended for healthcare workers, parents, teachers, and childcare providers.

No prior training is required. Both the Basic and Intermediate First Aid courses are open to anyone. For the 1-day Intermediate recertification, you'll need a current Heart & Stroke First Aid certificate.

Yes. CPR/AED skills are integrated into all first aid courses. The Basic course includes CPR Level A (adult). The Intermediate course includes CPR Level C (adult, child, and infant), plus AED training and choking management for all age groups.
